About Me
I am a cultural anthropologist completing my PhD at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. I have been a drummer/percussionist for over thirty years, progressing from elementary school orchestra to high school symphonic and marching band to several touring metal and rock bands.
My lifelong passion for music, combined with a curiosity about other cultures, led me to cultural anthropology and ethnomusicology. After completing my bachelor’s degree at Western Carolina University in 2006, I entered the graduate program at USC, earning a master’s degree in cultural anthropology in 2008. After working for several years as an adjunct instructor, most recently here at WCU, I am very pleased to now be working full-time as an academic advisor and communications liason at the Honors College.
