Initially I proposed the Center in the Fall of 2015. Then in December 2015, WCU's Board of Trustees approved the Center, and in September 2016 the University entered an agreement with the Charles Koch Foundation to provide a $1.8 million over five years to fund the Center. During the 2016-17 academic year, the Center was established through a process jointly determined by administration and faculty.
