How to do your Voice Literature Research

Here are some ways for you to do research:

THE encyclopedia for music is called Oxford Music Online.  It is available to you through the WCU Hunter Library. Here is how you access it:

Go to Library Databases and you can choose to either search for it under Subject – Music or Alphabetical Order – “O”.

All articles written in Oxford Music Online are written by the experts in that field.  At the end of each article is a GREAT bibliography for further research.

Other Resources:

www.recmusic.org/lieder – this is an excellent source for translations of song texts.  This does not include arias.

http://0-www.ipasource.com.wncln.wncln.org/ – This is another excellent source for three different kinds of translations (IPA, word by word AND idiomatic).

www.aria-database.com – this is an excellent source for translations of arias.  This does not include songs.  This does, however, have more information – plot summaries, sound bites, character stuff, etc.

www.mtishows.com – Music Theatre sources.  Lots of shows available.  Plot summaries.

www.Tams-witmark.com/musical/html – Tams  Witmark shows.  Plot summaries and other information
