Reza developed the first two generations of the neural prosthesis. The device includes a microcontroller that captures data from four Inertial measurement units (IMUs) and four foot pressure sensors. The device also include a functional electrical simulator that artificially induced muscular contractions. The FES and movement sensor monitoring device were decoupled in this version of the device.
